CMS Sports and Activities - Fall 2026

CMS Musical:
MATILDA Jr.We are excited to announce our Fall CMS Musical in collaboration with the Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory (PVTC) - Matilda Jr! Based on the novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda is about a brilliant young girl with a love of books. Mistreated by her cruel parents and the tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull, Matilda uses her wit and courage to inspire her classmates and change her destiny.

We are inviting all students in Grades 4-8 to participate as members of the cast or crew.

CAST INFO: The cast members may be called up to three times per week on: Mon/Tue/Thu afternoons- 3:15-5:00pm Students planning to be in the cast should not have other regular activities on those days during those times, or it may significantly limit their ability to participate.  Fees for cast members in the musical will be $350, and scholarship assistance is available.

CREW INFO: If your child would like to be part of the crew, working as a stage manager, run crew, or tech person running lights/sound/projections, or building props, costumes, and set pieces, they can also sign up to interview for those roles. Most workdays are on Thursday afternoons. Fees for crew members will be $150-$250, depending on the position, and scholarship assistance is available.

CMS FALL ATHLETICS
​5th-8th Co-Ed Cross Country:
Practice Dates: Mon & Fri 3:20-4:35, Wed 2:10-3:25.  
Games and Location: Practices start and end at CMS, but athletes will run on the local trails.

Most meets will be Mondays, and will take the place of practice that day.  Meets are off-site and parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to and from the meets.  Practice mileage averages between 3 and 5 miles.  Meets are 1.2-1.7 miles.

This is run as a developmental clinic - so it’s non-competitive.  We will have intrasquad scrimmages and might play another local team, but we will not participate in league play. 

​6th-8th Girls Volleyball:
Practice Days: JV Mon 3:30-4:30pm, Tues & Thurs 3:30-4:30pm, Varsity Mon 3:30-4:30pm, Tues & Thurs 4:30-5:30pm
Games and Location: Games will be on Mon, Tues, and Thurs at Corte Madera and other schools around the Peninsula. 
Participants: 6th-8th Grade

Based on the spring interest survey, there will be 2 teams split by grade level, most likely a 6/7 team and a 7/8 team. All 8th graders are required to play varsity. Games will also be on Mon, Tues, and Thurs and will take the place of practice that day.  We will have some home games and some away games.  Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to all away games

Practice Dates: Wed 2:15-3:30pm Fri 3:25-4:40pm
4th/5th Grade Flag Football Clinic (Cap at 24) is open to 4th/5th-grade boys.

This program will be on Wed & Fri after school.  It will be a clinic-style program, with an emphasis on individual and team development.  There will be intrasquad scrimmages, but we will not be competing with other schools. 

​6th-8th Boys Flag Football:
Practice Dates: Mon, Tues & Thurs - 3:25-4:40pm
Games:  Games will be at CMS and other schools around the Peninsula and might run later than 4:40pm

Players will be divided into 2 teams that will be capped at around 15 players per team.  They will be practicing/playing games 3 days a week.  There will be 2 teams split by grade level, most likely a  6/7 team and a 7/8 team.  Football will be on Mon, Tues and Thurs.  Practice days will be 3:30-4:45.  Games will start at various times in the 4:00 or 5:00 hour.  Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to all away games.   *The practice/game schedule is subject to change.  The players need to be available after school and have a flexible schedule.  

Golf 5th-8th:
Golf runs throughout the school year.
Practice Days: Every other Friday from 3:30-4:30pm at CMS
Participants: 5th-8th graders. (cap at 16). Players are responsible for bringing their own clubs.

All players who register will be considered practice players with the focus on developing their skills every other Friday at Corte Madera. Approximately once a month, the top performers will be selected to represent Corte Madera for our league match. Those matches typically take place on Wednesdays at Mariners Golf Course in Foster City.  We usually arrive at the course around 2:30, practice for an hour, and then play a round of 9 holes. Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation to all away games
