Our Mission

The purpose of the Portola Valley Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is to promote and support the education and welfare of the students in the Portola Valley School District and to strengthen the relationship between home and school by facilitating communication and encouraging cooperation among parents, teachers, administrators, the school board and the community.  All parents or legal guardians of students who currently attend Ormondale School or Corte Madera School and all current faculty and staff of the PVSD are members in the organization.

There are 3 independent organizations that support our schools:

THE PORTOLA VALLEY PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PV-PTO)

THE PORTOLA VALLEY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION (PVSF)

THE PORTOLA VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD

WHAT DOES THE PTO DO?

The PTO promotes and supports the education and welfare of our students by strengthening the relationship between home and school through a variety of programs, services, and social events.

For students and parents:
Parent education, school directories, volunteer coordination, book fairs, spiritwear, t-shirts for all incoming students, volunteer recognition, student cocoa breakfasts, pizza lunches and much more.

For faculty/staff:
Teacher and staff appreciation, funds for classroom supplies, meals and more.

For our school community:
PTO weekly newsletter, community service programs, new family welcome, family bingo night, school picnic and more.

The PTO relies primarily on donations to do its important work.

WHAT DOES THE FOUNDATION (PVSF) DO?

Raising additional funds to benefit Portola Valley schools is the mission of the PVSF. Through generous donations, the non-profit, all-volunteer PVSF is able to contribute approximately 10 percent of the district’s budget annually. This yearly contribution helps fund programs such as STEM and the arts, as well as provide small class sizes, additional teachers, classroom aides, reading specialists, physical education, and music programs — resources that make our schools extraordinary places to learn.
